To assist the Instructor in the classroom and be available to students of the assigned course as a tutor.
One-time attendance to the summer course taught Psych 565 "Practicum in Teaching Psychology".� One-time attendance to the summer teaching assistant orientation hosted by the Teaching Center.
Attend all course lectures.� (35%) - This position will consult with and assist the Instructor(s) for four courses, as assigned, per semester. - Read the textbook to familiarize oneself with course material. - Read course-related articles / books / electronic / web materials. - Take Notes for Class. - Take Attendance. - Meet with instructor as needed. - Manage computer systems in class. - Manage room settings (e.g., lighting, blinds). - Assist with course materials and tests. - Explore other classroom opportunities.
Grading and Record Keeping:� (15%) - Grade quizzes, tests and exams as requested, by hand or scantron. - Produce detailed item analyses. - Maintain student grades during the semester and post grades online. - Handle grading disputes.
Office Hours / Review sessions / Labs:� (35%) - Maintain regular office hours. - Hold labs, if applicable. - Schedule and hold tutorial, review sessions or alternate testing sessions as determined in consultation with Instructor.
Administrative: (15%) - Make audio visual instructive materials as needed. - Make and distribute handouts. - Manage equipment and resources (e.g., books, videos from library). - Liaison with the Disability Resource Center. - Manage Blackboard and/or the course website.
Other duties and training opportunities as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or related field.
Familiar with MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint
Master’s in Psychology or related field. Expertise in psychology, optimally including psychological statistics and statistical software. Experience in a University environment and teaching experience.
The hiring range for this position is $17.14 - $21.85 per hour.
This position is full-time and works approximately 37.5 hours per week.
