The Department of Psychological Sciences at the University of San Diego invites applicants for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Cognitive Psychology. The department values both teaching and research and the typical teaching load is three courses per semester. We welcome candidates who are innovative in their pedagogical and research approaches to investigating cognitive psychology. The successful applicant should be able to teach Cognitive Psychology, Advanced Research Methods in Cognitive Psychology Capstone, Introductory Psychology, Statistics, and Research Methods. There is also the opportunity to teach upper-division specialty courses in his/her area of expertise (e.g., Attention, Language, Memory, and/or Decision-Making). The department is especially interested in someone with a strong statistics background.
Preferred candidate will have university-level teaching experience, and demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. Candidates will also be expected to have a strong research agenda, participate in University service, and advise undergraduates. The departmental expectation is that the research program would involve undergraduate students as research assistants and collaborators, and primarily be conducted on campus. Candidates with experience working with and mentoring students from diverse backgrounds are especially welcome to apply.
Completed Ph.D. in Psychology or related field at the time of appointment.
