The Autism BrainNet Project Scientist reports to the Director of Autism BrainNet and the President of Foundation Associates. The appointee will manage acquisition and distribution of Autism BrainNet brain and tissue resources and maintain an accurate inventory of all tissue resources. The incumbent will provide advice to investigators interested in obtaining tissue. The Project Scientist will assist with operations related to scientific review of applications for brain tissue (by providing administrative support to the Scientific Review Panel) and will coordinate the distribution of tissue from Nodes to users. In collaboration with the Autism BrainNet Director, the appointee will establish and implement processes for efficient inclusion of donor data and data from tissue related research into the consolidated Autism BrainNet database.
This is a full-time appointment for one year and renewal will be dependent on availability of support.
The duties are to make significant and creative research contributions to the field of autism; to assist the director of Autism Brain Net and node personnel to define centralized processing, manage brain procurement, provide support to the scientific review committee, and manage interactions with research community.
Ph.D or M.D. with experience in neuroscience, neuroanatomy, neuropathology or substantial experience in brain bank administration required.
Expertise in human neuroanatomical or neuropathological research methods
Excellent organization skills
Excellent communications skills to interact with autism scientific research community
Familiarity with database management
Knowledge of scientific review application processes
Willingness to travel when needed
