The Senior Manager, Research is responsible for managing AES research programs for early career and established investigators, career development resources for junior investigators including mentorship programs, and related programs and activities advancing epilepsy research. S/he will establish the strategic direction for activities supporting the epilepsy research community and develop strategies to advance the AES research agenda.
Qualifications and Education Requirements
Advanced degree in neuroscience, public health, or equivalent field preferred. Minimum seven years progressive experience in research or scientific environment, in academic, government, or healthcare association or similar environment, with experience contributing to departmental or organizational strategy and program execution. Knowledge of federal grant and other funding processes. Knowledge of basic, clinical and translational research protocols.
Demonstrated ability to translate strategic objectives of operational plans and direct execution against those plans. Excellent written and verbal communications skills. Experience developing and managing program budgets. Successful track record of directing multiple projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Highly accountable for own and direct report actions. Ability to formulate clear, concise, thorough and supportable recommendations. Exceptional interpersonal skills at all levels of the organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). Knowledge of proposalCentral grants management software desirable. Collaborative, solution-oriented team leader and colleague.
