The Department of Human Services in the Curry School of Education at the University of Virginia is seeking applicants for a newly created full-time, 12-month salaried non-tenure track Associate/Full Professor to serve as the Director of the Sheila C. Johnson Center (SCJC) for Human Services. Rank is dependent upon qualifications. The director is responsible for setting a clear strategic vision that results in the provision of evidence-based, fiscally sustainable, and integrated clinical services that also provide professional training opportunities. Incumbent oversees and manages the day-to-day clinical and administrative activities of the Sheila C. Johnson Center for Human Services to ensure a very high quality, seamless interdisciplinary diagnostic, treatment, or consultative experience for children, adolescents, families, and adults that serves as a best practices model for clinical service and training.
The director also develops new service opportunities and the infrastructure to conduct clinical research with potential for extramural funding. Finally, the incumbent engages in the provision of clinical services and the supervision of students in the area of their professional expertise.
A doctorate in a human services field such as Clinical or School Psychology, Speech and Language Pathology, Counseling or similar discipline is required. At least five years of oversight of clinical services in an integrated, interdisciplinary clinical setting is required. Experience integrating training and research into the daily operations of a clinic is also required. In addition leading outreach and marketing efforts for clinical services as well as using a data-driven approach to quality improvements of clinical services is essential. Demonstrated financial management skills, balancing an outpatient clinic budget that involves multiple sources of revenue, including third-party payers, self-pay, grants, and contracts is also required. Demonstrated leadership, mentoring, collaboration, and communication skills are essential. Experience with evidence-based assessment and intervention methods with children, college students, adults, and/or families is required. Finally, an explicit commitment to diversity and of advancingunderstanding and outcomes for underrepresented groups and a demonstrated ability to deliver culturally competent content in a professional and engaging manner and to deliver outstanding clinical supervision are essential. Licensure to practice professionally in Virginia or license eligible is required.
