This 10-month, full-time, annually renewable position will serve to help build and shape a growing major program. The ideal candidate is a Ph.D in psychology who can teach a wide array of courses including biopsychology, cognitive psychology, statistics, general psychology, research methods, and a course in language development for Early Childhood Education majors.
The successful candidate will: encourage, inspire and help equip student seeking careers in fields in which psychology is a preparatory discipline; contribute to the service needs of the College; work with colleagues to proactively support a meaningful and relevant learning environment, facilitating optimal student preparation for success.
Teaching responsibilities at 5 courses per semester;
Hold office hours as required and meet with students by appointment;
Coach and mentor students regarding academic and career/graduate school preparation;
Direct student research projects;
Organize and Advise a Psychology club;
Participate in committees as assigned, attend school and program meetings;
Participate in recruitment activities;
Other duties as assigned.
Doctoral Degree in one of the subfields of Psychology as noted above and at least 3 years of full-time teaching experience required. Demonstrated experience in post-secondary education learning design theory, instructional design, curriculum development and innovative classroom, online and blended pedagogy, with a focus on clear outcomes. Collaborative approach to working with faculty and staff. Practical experience as a researcher or practitioner is a plus. Must have excellent written, oral and presentation skills, and the understanding and working knowledge of digital technology. Experience with course management systems (i.e., Moodle) and classroom media such as smart boards is essential. Candidates must have a demonstrated passion for teaching and for providing transformational learning experiences for college students and teaching to a diverse population of undergraduates at varying stages of academic readiness.
